Delhi High Court Directs Bikanervala to Remove ‘ANANDAM’ Products from Website Within 24 Hours

Oct 22, 2026

The Delhi High Court has directed Bikanervala Foods Private Limited to remove all products bearing the “ANANDAM” trademark from its official website within 24 hours. The order was passed on 16 October 2026 in a trademark dispute between Anandam Sweets Private Limited and Bikanervala Foods Private Limited.

The dispute concerns the alleged continued use of the “ANANDAM” mark on gift hamper packaging, despite an earlier undertaking to discontinue its use. The Court's direction highlights the importance of complying with court undertakings in trademark disputes

Background of the Trademark Dispute

Anandam Sweets Private Limited alleged that Bikanervala continued to display products bearing the “ANANDAM” mark despite its earlier undertaking dated 17 October 2025.

Under that undertaking, Bikanervala had agreed to stop procuring packaging bearing the mark and to exhaust or destroy its remaining stock within the agreed period. It had also undertaken not to sell gift hampers under the mark after the specified deadline.

During the proceedings, counsel for Anandam Sweets showed the Court that the relevant gift hamper was still listed on Bikanervala's website. Although Bikanervala's counsel submitted that the product was displayed as out of stock, the Court directed the company to remove all products bearing the mark from its website within 24 hours.

Court Proceedings and Directions

Justice Vikas Mahajan issued notice on the contempt application and directed Bikanervala to file its reply within one week, followed by a rejoinder from the applicant.

The Court also directed the authorised representative who had given the earlier undertaking to remain physically present at the next hearing, scheduled for 30 October 2026.

Understanding Trademark Objection and Trademark Infringement

A Trademark Objection arises during the examination of a trademark application when the Trade Marks Registry identifies issues under the applicable law. Applicants may need to submit a reasoned response and supporting documents.

Trademark infringement, by contrast, concerns the unauthorised use of a protected trademark in circumstances that violate the rights of its proprietor. It is different from an examination objection and may lead to civil litigation.

The Bikanervala–Anandam dispute illustrates how trademark-related issues can extend beyond Trademark registration to the use of a mark in packaging, online listings and compliance with court undertakings.

Conclusion

The Delhi High Court's direction in the dispute between Anandam Sweets and Bikanervala highlights the significance of trademark protection and compliance with judicial undertakings. Businesses should take appropriate steps to protect their brand identity, avoid conflicts with existing trademarks and respond promptly to legal proceedings.

For businesses seeking assistance with Trademark Registration, Trademark Objection, trademark searches and Intellectual Property Rights, consulting an experienced Trademark Consultant can help them understand the registration process and manage potential trademark risks.
