On Friday General Motors and its subsidiary Cruise, filed a lawsuit against Ford. General Motors' claim was Ford’s brand ‘’BlueCruise’’ a hands-free highway driving system for some of its vehicles was too similar to that of GM’s Super Cruise trademark and Cruise’s trademark, which is a hands-free driving assistance feature. It was included in Cadillac cars since 2017 and was advertised as early as 2012, according to the General Motors lawsuit.

Ford said, "We think GM Cruise’s claim is meritless and frivolous. Drivers for decades have understood what cruise control is, and 'cruise' is common shorthand for the capability."Ford insisted on not giving up the name ‘BlueCruise’despite Cruise’s existing rights
