Rogue websites are restrained by the High Court from using the Amazon trademark and logo.
Any deceptive variant of the Amazon trademark and its logo will be restrained from using by third-party websites. This action comes after finding many rogue websites have deceptively used the Amazon brand and its logo.
Owners of websites such as https://amazonbuys.com and its amazon franchise Facebook page, https://estoreamazon.in. are restrained from using the Amazon brand name, logo, or any deceptive variant of the amazon brand logo and name by the High Court till the next hearing date.
Department of Telecommunication and Ministry of Electronics and Infomation Technology was directed to send notifications to the various telecom and internet service providers registered under it to deny access to those various websites infringed by the rogue website owners.
Amazon complained that their website www.amazon.in was blatantly copied and reproduced all of its looks by the rogue website owners. Further Amazon said the infringers showed interest in registering 'Amazon Easy store' to engage in deceptive activities and defraud innocent people.
